[Under Construction] In fact, this is a rubbish page and I should probably just delete it.
It has been suggested that all the best goth clubs have pillars. For example, Le Phono in Leeds has a mirrored pillar, and I once went to a goth club in Canberra in the early '90s that had something similar. The Canberra club was slightly smaller than Le Phono, and naturally had a slightly smaller dancefloor also centered around the pillar. A mirrored pillar, naturally, after all, it saves nipping off to the loos to check your make-up and hair. And just enough space to do the two-step facing the pillar -- next trick is to get all the goths in sync going in and out at the same time. Or if no-one else is dancing, either because (a) they dont appreciate the classic tune the DJ is playing, or (b) the DJ is playing some tedious shite but you've consumed too much of some stimulating beverage to not dance, you can dance clockwise around the pillar instead (or anticlockwise).
Mixy has (allegedy) been to a club with an (allegedly) "nice black" pillar in Hamburg, and one with a "nasty brown-painted" pillar (allegedly) in Belgium. Neither club, however was (allegedly) better than OK.
[Mail me if you have more pillar info! :-)]
