There has been a #physics channel on IRCnetsince it came into existence after the splitting of EFnet. EFnet #physics dates back at least to 1990, but tends to be swamped by bots. In addition, there is also an Undernet #physics.
Discussion times: The discussion times when people are encouraged to join are Fridays at 9am GMT (5am EST), Mondays at 5pm GMT (1pm EST), and Wednesdays 1am GMT (9pm EST).
This is just list of regular or semi-regular users that I have seen on the channel. Emphasised names are those that I know have done research, either as a graduate student or as a professional physicist. Anyone I have missed, or misclassified should let me know.
